  Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is a mineral that occurs naturally in chalks, limestones and marbles. It is largely used in the pulp-and-paper industry as a filler and pigment. Other calcium carbonate applications in building construction, plant and crop fertilizers, food additives, water and sewage treatment, ceramics, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

  5) Burning may be done in a number of ways involving a range of technology levels and costs. After burning, the CaCO3 would still need to be crushed, screened and, possibly, ground down further in a mill.
